On Solitude

Language…has created the word “loneliness” to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone.  ~ Paul Tillich.

For Haiku Heights:

when i seek solitude

i often see loneliness

behind the bushes, peeking

For 5-line poetry month:

when solitude finds me

i thought not of fighting back

surrendering in its caress

it protects me

from more rejections

    • It was a perfect setting, a lake, it was dusk, everything was calm and serene. When I saw that the prompt was solitude, I knew right away which picture I could use. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • Yup, it was almost dusk in the park when I took it, so it was quiet. The water was so still. Just perfect. Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

  1. Tillich wrote the right words to express loneliness!!! i love it.
and the first poem…it feels like lonliness is a stalker…a scary one! the second i like!!

    • Eva, that’s because I’ve been fighting loneliness for a long time (see my other post titled ‘my battle’). It’s my weakness, my demon. I think the line between solitude and loneliness is very thin for me at times, but luckily not all the times 🙂 I also love Tillich’s quote. Thanks for stopping by.
