Window Shopping


 

pounding of boots on sidewalk
big feet, little feet, strollers
and from somewhere in the block
a familiar tune is belted live
from a sax

window to window
glitters, decorations, bells, ribbons
ghostly white faces, big round eyes
staring blankly from inside the glass
indifferent to the oohing and aahing on the other side
from a pair of pink cheeks
too excited to listen
to the numbness of her fingers
too young to understand
everything is not
for sale
